Chapter 2: Format
2.1 Team Eligibility: Each team must have one male and one female of the same bow type. (For questions regarding division eligibility, please reference Lancaster Archery Classic Format and Rule 2.11)
2.2 Divisions: Barebow, Olympic Recurve, and Compound.
2.3 Event Format: 16 teams of each division will have two ends of practice, followed by 4 ends of score. Teams will then be ranked by total score and placed into an OR bracket.
2.4 Qualification Format: All archers will shoot a standard 4 end qualification round with 3 arrow ends. There will be 90 seconds on the clock. Archers will remain on the line in the same format as a standard qualification round.
2.5 Qualification Scoring: The X is scored as 11 points. Archers will shoot 3-arrow ends for a total of 33 points with 4 ends equaling a potential total score of 132 per person. A potential combined max team score is 264.
2.4a Archers shooting a 3-spot target will number their target face in the order they will shoot their arrows. Arrows must be called and scored in that order.
2.6 Qualification Ties: If there remains a tie for a total team score, ties will be broken by number of 11’s, then first out arrow value. First out will be looked at on each team member’s scorecard. This process will continue until the tie is broken, if the tie remains, a shoot off will occur to determine the team’s qualification placement. (See figure 2.6.1 & 2.6.2)
2.6a In a shoot off, each team member will shoot one arrow. The tie will first be broken by total score, then closest to the X. Archers on the same team will rotate so there is only one archer from each team on the shooting line at a time. Teams will have 40 total seconds for a shoot off.
2.7 Match Play Format: Teams will follow Classic scoring with 11’s. Each person will shoot 3 arrows for a team total of 6 arrows. Each team will have two target faces on the bale.
2.7a Teams must choose two of the same style target face for all aspects of this round, either a single spot, or a three spot.
2.7b All 16 Teams in each division will be ranked into an OR style bracket based on the teams combined qualification score with the following rounds: 1/8 (16 teams cutting to 8), 1/4 (8 teams cutting to 4), 1/2 (4 teams determining medal matches), Bronze Match, Gold Medal Match.
2.8 Match Play Scoring: Each target face may only have 3 arrows in the face. Any additional arrows beyond three will not be counted, and archers will receive the lowest three scoring arrows for that target face.
2.8a The X will count as 11 points. A team's potential maximum score per end will equal 66 points.
2.8b A match will consist of four ends, six arrows each end. A team’s potential maximum score will equal 264 points.
2.9 Match Play Ties: Ties will be broken first on total number of 11’s. If a tie remains, a shoot off will determine the winning team. In a shoot off, each team member will shoot one arrow. The tie will first be broken by total score, then closest to the X. Archers on the same team will rotate so there is only one archer from each team on the shooting line at a time. Teams will have 40 total seconds for a shoot off.
2.10 Order of Shooting: Each team will have 120 seconds to shoot 6 arrows for each end of their match. Teams can choose the order in which each archer shoots their 3 arrows. Only one team member can be on the shooting line at any given time.
2.10a There will be a 1m line prior to the shooting line. The second team member approaching the shooting line must wait until the first team member coming off the shooting line fully passes the 1m line. If an archer prematurely approaches the shooting line, a judge may issue a yellow card to the team. This penalty would result in the second archer returning behind the 1m line before again proceeding to the shooting line.
2.10b Teams may advance the 1m line at two whistles; when one whistle is blown one team member may proceed to the shooting line.
2.11 Illegally shot or missing arrows: during the event the following rules will apply:
2.11a If a target face has less than three arrows, the missing arrows will be scored as a zero.
2.11b If the team shoots more than the designated amount of arrows in an end into a target face, they will lose their highest scoring arrows and the lowest three scoring arrows will be recorded.
2.11c Arrows traveling entirely past the 3-meter dead arrow line cannot be re-shot and will be scored as a miss.
2.11d For archers shooting a single spot target face, a shot released before the start signal or after the stop signal closing an end will result in the archer losing their highest scoring arrow of that end.
2.11e For archers shooting a 3-spot target face, a shot released before the start signal or after the stop signal closing an end will result in the archer losing that arrow of that end.
